Why we become ill - and alternative ways of supporting the body’s natural healing abilities.

Why we get sick and the true causes of illness and the core philosophy used in our day to day practice.

Overall there appears to be just five fundamental causes of illness;

  1. Detrimental substances in the body including toxins and poisons and the results from autointoxication;

  2. Nutritional deficiencies and the absence of substances needed by the body for growth, normal maintenance and repair and replication;

  3. Mechanical injury and Genetic damage to the body;

  4. Environmental stresses, having to live or work in surroundings or within relationships which place on the individual stresses greater than those for which the human body was designed;

  5. Inner conflict between the patients own mental/emotional states and their inner self which prevents the patient from achieving their real chosen path or direction of life by using their own attributes and aspirations.

The core reasoning upon which we base our approach to diagnosis and treatment

The need for a more natural approach; after spending thirty five years in alternative and complementary medicine working alongside conventional medical practitioners it appears there is a need for a more natural approach to healing based upon a solid foundation of both physiological and psychological principles for both diagnosis and treatment procedures in all forms of illness.

The intelligence of cells; cells of the human body actually 'know' what to do; they have a purpose, a role to play, in the running of all our bodily functions whilst replicating and reproducing themselves at the same time. Some cells in the body reproduce every few hours; others take up to six months. If cells of the body can replicate themselves from the previous cells, why is it that some cells replace themselves with healthy cells and yet others reproduce a cell that is inferior or diseased? This question we review with every patient attending our clinic in our search for the possible causes of their illness.

A purpose to life; in addition to these basic questions we should consider what effect the mind has upon the body and how the power of thought, both positive and negative, will affect the performance of the cells and the entire body. If we as medical practitioners all agree that each and every cell in the human body has a purpose and role to perform in its day to day functioning, then we must also agree that the patient as a whole must have a role and purpose to their own individual lives and their relationships with others.

Mind-Body connection; if there is a role and purpose existing in every cell of the human body and within the patient as a whole, surely we must also agree a patient can be affected by both mental and emotional stresses that changes and alters their role and purpose to their life; then illness must have a mind-body connection. In addition we must address the role of the genes within our bodies and the controlling influence upon many of the physical symptoms appearing as chronic illnesses, particularly in children. We must examine how natural medicine can perform a role in giving tolerance of illness, yet at the same time assisting the patient with chronic and genetic illness to develop all the available optimum potential of their bodily functions.

The starting point to illness; if a patient loses sight of their own purpose in life, the cells that make up their body will have no purpose and there will be no requirement for their existence to carry out bodily functions. Illness will then proliferate.

Take a look at the book 'Thoughts that Harm and Thoughts that Heal' to learn more of this mind-body connection in establishing the causes of illness in the human body.
